Installation Procedure
Step 1: Prepare Mast
- Connect the three 1.8m galvanized pipes using socket fittings
- Install end cap on top pipe
- Pre-mark the guy wire attachment point at 3.5m height
Step 2: Set Up Tripod
- Position tripod on level ground
- Extend all three legs to full 60-inch length
- Verify stable positioning and adjust if needed
- Secure legs in fully deployed position
Step 3: Install Mast Through Tripod
- Position the bottom of the mast where it will permanently rest on the ground
- Carefully feed the mast through the tripod hub until the mast base contacts the ground
- Ensure the tripod hub provides lateral support without lifting the mast off the ground
- Check vertical alignment with level tool
- Make adjustments as needed to ensure mast is vertical
Step 4: Set Up Weight Anchors
- Assemble weight plate anchors with eyebolts, washers, and nuts
- Position anchors approximately 2-3m from mast base at 120° intervals
- Ensure anchors are on stable, flat surfaces
- Orient eyebolts toward the mast for optimal pull direction
Step 5: Install Guy Wires
- Attach guy wires to the mast at the 3.5m mark
- Run wires to each weight plate anchor
- Install turnbuckles for tension adjustment
- Secure all connections with proper wire rope clips
- Adjust tension evenly across all three wires
Step 6: Final Adjustments
- Verify mast is perfectly vertical using level tool
- Fine-tune guy wire tension as needed
- Check all connections for security
- Apply anti-corrosion treatment to exposed metal if desired
Maintenance Considerations
- Check guy wire tension monthly
- Inspect for corrosion after heavy rain or storms
- Verify tripod stability periodically
- Consider temporary dismantling during extreme weather events
Disassembly for Moving
- Loosen and remove guy wires
- Disassemble weight plate anchors
- Lower mast from tripod
- Fold tripod legs
- Disconnect pipe sections if needed for transport
